There is such a thing as a free lunch!

Because people are hungry for more than food.

Hugs How It All Began...
Food for Thought began in May of 2007 when God brought a group of people together with a common passion to feed the hungry in downtown Toledo, Ohio. We started with 50 lunches consisting of pb&j sandwiches, chips, fruit, a juice box, and a cookie. That first weekend we walked around Toledo’s downtown area and it took 2 hours to pass out 30 lunches.

A year later, we passed out 300 lunches in less than 30 minutes to many of those who now know us by name. We have created real relationships with each other, and for most of us, Saturday morning is the highlight of our week!! In addition to passing out lunches, we now offer coffee and, depending on the season, hot chocolate or lemonade to our friends. The fellowship is enhanced by being able to share a cup of hot coffee together and talk about our week.

Many of our friends downtown have come to trust us, since we come and deliver our lunches (and more!) every Saturday, rain, snow or shine, without fail. We've had a huge learning curve in developing our "routines" and "policies" and every week is still an adventure, but as we continue to grow, we also continue to experience the same passion that got us started in the first place.
