Because people are hungry for more than food.

You've found the section that fills you in on how we do what we do (check out our weekly food list)and who's doing it (and how to contact them). You're also going to find some local resources here, and a list of other organizations, many of them good friends with us, we're affiliated with in some way. And, should you find yourself itching to help out, we've got information on how to get involved.

One thing we'd like you to know, especially if you're visiting our site and you're from another city, is that we're always constantly tweaking our processes to be both more efficient and more open to growing and adding more services and volunteers. We consider our methods "firmly flexible". We've started documenting (in more detail than what's on our site) the way we do things, our philosophy of why we're doing everything, and even what materials are needed. It's a handbook, if you will, for anyone who wants to duplicate our "model" of serving. If this describes you, please feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to share what wisdom we've learned with you!

With that said, you should also know that everyone who's been involved for any length of time with Food For Thought believes what we're doing is truly a movement. Our origin and growth has not been strategized or scheduled - in fact, when we think about what's happened in such a short time, we're completely surprised. The thing to remember is that we don't exist because we think we're going to solve the problem of hunger. We exist because everyone's hungry - both those who serve and those being served - for meaning and relationships. Food For Thought is just a vehicle to connect people.
